Adidas Originals Blends Exhibition, Storytelling, and Commerce
Adidas Originals is redefining how brands show up during cultural moments, turning Lunar New Year into a contemporary, immersive brand experience in Shanghai, and a clear signal of where future retail is heading.
Rather than a conventional product launch, adidas Originals creates a cultural gathering at Fotografiska, blending exhibition, storytelling and community.
The Spring Festival experience reframes Lunar New Year through a youthful lens, inviting guests to connect with the brand emotionally, not transactionally.
At the centre is the China-exclusive “Anfu” and “CHANGLE” thin-soled shoe series, designed by the Shanghai Creative Center.
Optimised for Asian foot shapes and rooted in local symbolism, the products become cultural artefacts rather than commodities.
Design, function and meaning work together, peace, happiness and joy are embedded into both form and narrative.
This is future retail done well: immersive, culturally fluent and purposefully designed.
A reminder that when brands lead with relevance and respect, physical experiences still create the strongest connections in a digital-first world.
